SUMMARY
Sells heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment, parts and supplies by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
- Greets customer on sales floor or receives telephone call and determines make, type, and quality of merchandise desired. Discusses use and features of various parts; demonstrates use of merchandise.
- Displays merchandise, suggests selections that meet customer's needs, and emphasizes selling points of article such as quality and utility.
- Estimates quantity of merchandise required to fill customer's need.
- Reads catalog, or computer for replacement part stock number and price. Advises customer on substitution or modification of part when replacement is not available.
- Uses computer database to research availability of merchandise. Fills customer orders from stock or prepares transfer from other location. Prepares sales order or quote order.
- Receives payment or obtains credit authorization. Wraps or bags merchandise for customer.
- Examines defective articles returned by customers to determine if refund or replacement should be made.
- Ascertains make and type of part needed, inspects worn, damaged, or defective part to determine replacement required, or advises customer of part needed according to description of malfunction.
- Places new merchandise on display, markets specials, closeouts, and promotional merchandise. Helps maintain a clean and organized showroom.
- Solicits new and established customers via telephone to promote sales. Resolves or alerts management regarding inventory issues or customer concerns.
- Works in the warehouse and drives delivery vehicle if need arises.
- Works with clerical staff to check and maintain open orders, purchase orders, return merchandise purchase orders. Assists in maintaining current and accurate warranty return authorizations and their credit adjustments.
- Maintains clean showroom, counterspace, office, break area, restrooms and other working areas.
- Follows direction provided by counter lead (if applicable) and lends support to warehouse staff in their duties.

Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Minimum of one (1) year heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) wholesale distribution sales experience.
- Practical knowledge of HVAC equipment, parts, supplies and accessories as well as HVAC service and installation.
- Practical knowledge of warehouse, data processing, paper flow and operations procedures.
- Must have the ability to negotiate transactions on an intra- and inter-company level. Must possess the ability to mediate situations among employees and customers as they arise.
Technical Skills
- Beginner to intermediate to advanced user of the Internet and Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Ability to learn new software quickly and accurately.

Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
Reasoning Ability

Summary
Reporting directly to the Sales Manager, you will be responsible for growing (existing & new) sales in your assigned area. You will also be an integral part of the Equipment Division Sales team in all aspects of the Homans product lines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Sales
- Develop equipment sales with existing and new accounts.
- Assist the Equipment Division in developing a strong dealer network.
- Become knowledgeable in the entire Homans product lines and use this knowledge to increase sales.
- Provide technical support to customers when needed.
- Attend Homans training sessions on product lines as deemed necessary by management.
Customer Service
- As the immediate contact for customers, you will assist in providing technical service and on site support when needed or arrange for the Equipment Division to provide service or support if necessary.
- Be the first line of contact for customers and maintain a log of sales calls and presentations that will be included in our data base.
- Turn in your weekly sales call log to your regional manager every Monday or assigned day.
Marketing
- Work along with Management to develop marketing plans and strategies.
- Compile and maintain market profiles for your assigned area and keep information up to date in database.
- Remain current with market trends and report any activities by competitors as related to product offerings, sales specials, customer attitudes, service level, etc. to Management.
- Assist in promotions, Trade Shows, Counter Days, Customer Appreciation events, and other Marketing related activities.

Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience
- Associates Degree from 2 year or technical school
- HVAC experience is preferred
- 2 years outside sales experience
Technical Skills
- PC knowledge of Microsoft applications

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organizations.
