interChannel User's Guide

Logging into interChannel
The method for logging into your distributor's web site will vary depending on how the site was designed. Typically, you will either select a login option or an interChannel link to access the login screen. If you are a new user, enter the username and password you would like to use. The New User Sign In form will display asking you for more information, such as your name and the company you work for. Once you have received confirmation from your distributor’s webmaster on your username and password, or if you are already a registered user, you can log in by doing the following:

1. Enter your Username.

2. Enter your password.

3. Click the Sign In button.

Accessing Account Information
The Account Inquiry screen allows you to view the status of your account. Some of the information available to you includes credit limit, available credit, total balance and transaction information.

1. Click Account Inquiry from the interChannel menu. This will display your current account information.

2. Click the Alternate View link on the bottom of the screen to access unpaid invoice information.

3. Select the value for the period you want more information about. The Transaction Inquiry screen displays the invoice number, date, due date, and amount for all invoices within the period select on the Account inquiry screen.

4. Select an invoice number to display the individual products that make up the order. The Order Inquiry screen displays information about the selected order, such as the order number and the products that make up the order. The screen also allows you to add or delete products to the order.


Performing a Product Inquiry
This screen allows you to conduct a product search based on a Keyword, Product Number, Product Description, Product Category, or Vendor Name. A wildcard (*) can be substituted for any unknown characters. For example, if you know the product number starts with a 2 but you don't know the rest of the number, you can enter 2* in the product number field and all products that begin with a 2 will display.

Note: The wildcard is available for all types of searches except for the Keyword search.

1. Click Product Inquiry from the interChannel menu. You can now search for products based on the following criteria:

Keyword: Allows you to search based on a keyword. For example, if you wanted information about copper pipe, you could search on the words copper, pipe, or you could enter both words.

Product Number: Allows you to search based on a product's number. For example, if you know the product you want is 2BTC, then enter 2BTC.

Product Description Begins with: Allows you to search based on what the product's description begins with. For example, if you are looking for power tools, you could search for the word power.

Product Category Description Begins with:Allows you to search based on the product category. For example, if you are looking for a type of fixture but you’re not sure which one you need, you can enter fixture in this field to display all available fixtures.

Vendor Name Begins with: Allows you to search based on the vendor’s name. For example, if you know the vendor is MAC Industries, you would enter MAC Industries in this field

Performing a Back Order Inquiry
This screen displays, sorted in order number, the products currently on back order. Both the Product and Original Order Number fields link to other screens. (Product links to the Item Order/Inquiry screen and Original Order Number links to the Order Inquiry screen).

1. Click Backorder Inquiry from the interChannel menu.

2. Select either the Product Number or the Original Order Number. Selecting the Product Number will display pricing and availability information, The Original Order Number will display the order and a list of products that make up the order.


Performing an Order Inquiry
This screen allows you to search for information on current and past orders, You can perform a search based on the Order Type, the Stage the order is in, a Product Number, your Order Number, and within a range of dates.

1. Click Order Inquiry from the interChannel menu

2. Select the Order Type from the dropdown list.

3. Select the stage of the order you want to inquire on from the dropdown list.

4. Enter the date ranges for the order.

5. Enter the product number. This field is optional.

6. Enter the purchase order number. This field is optional.

7. Click the Search for Order Matching ALL of the Above button. A listing of the all your orders will display based on criteria entered on the Order Inquiry screen.

8. Select the order you wish to inquire on. The Order Inquiry screen appears displaying information such as the order number, the quantity ordered, and pricing information.

9. Click your browser’s back button to return to the Order Listing screen or select another item from the menu.


Accessing the Shopping Basket
The Shopping Basket contains your current order information. The screen allows you to add and delete items, update quantity, and change header information. Once your order is complete, you can place the order by clicking the Place Order button.

1. Click Product Inquiry from the interChannel menu.

2. The Current Order Display allows you to change your current order information, such as quantity ordered. To remove an item from your shopping basket, select the Quantity field. On the Change Current Order Line screen, click the Quantity field and enter a 0. You can also update your header information or place your order.


Updating Header Information
This option allows you to change header information, such as your Ship To. Keep in mind that changing header information can affect the cost of the order. The price changes will not be reflected when the shopping basket is redisplayed but will be recalculated correctly when the order is submitted.

1. Enter your changes in the appropriate fields.
2. Click Submit Changes to return to the Current Order screen. The header information on the Current Order screen will be updated based on the changes you made.


Placing an Order
Your order is not placed until you click the Place Order button. This allows you to create an order and delay when you want it placed. Keep in mind that if you delay placing your order the products and quantities you selected may no longer be available.

1. Click the Place Order button. The Order Conversion screen will display with your order number.

2. Write down your conversion number. This number is necessary if there should be any problems with your order.
